Two more meetings are to be held to allow people to have their say on the closure of specialist service for people with head injuries in Bath. The Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases is controversially axing its neurological rehabilitation service from the end of next month in an attempt to balance its books. Bath and North East Somerset councillors were concerned by the decision, and had requested another meeting with NHS bosses to discuss the closure of the service in more detail. NHS B&NES and specialist NHS officials have now organised a meeting at the Min on Friday from 2pm until 4pm and at the South West Strategic Health Authority headquarters in Taunton on March 8. Findings from the meetings will be presented to a council scrutiny panel at its next meeting on March 22. The board which runs the Min decided to stop providing the neurological rehabilitation service after its income fell by 50 per cent in the past two years, but the move has concerned some brain injury experts and hospital governors.
