Praise for a production of Rory Mullarkey's "The Grandfathers" was so high that former St Gregory's pupil Henri Scanlon, along with the rest of the cast from St Brendan's Sixth Form College, was invited to return for a second run at the Bristol Old Vic last weekend.

After an original sell out, the cast and production crew, (which also included former Hayesfield pupil Jasmine Sorisi- Thomas), were invited to take the show to London's National Theatre, where it received the highest praise from Sir Nicholas Hytner, Artistic Director:

"(This) production of The Grandfathers…is the best I have seen in 10 years of the National Theatre's Connections festival. It's thrilling to see a group of teenage actors rise with such conviction to the challenge of an exciting script"

"With some of the actors now at University, and others completing their A-Levels, bringing them back together has been a lot to ask", admits Kevin Brice, Head of Performing Arts at St Brendan's Sixth Form College, "but this is a fantastic team who reached the highest standards asked of them, in an exciting and moving play. We now look forward to the challenge of repeating their success, with a cast of new students and a new production later in the spring".
