Sitting MP Jacob Rees-Mogg has been re-selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the North East Somerset seat at the next General Election.
Mr Rees-Mogg won the North East Somerset seat for the Conservatives from Labour's Dan Norris in the 2010 election with a majority of almost 5,000.
Local party members say they have been delighted with the way Mr Rees-Mogg has looked after the interests of people in North East Somerset.
Constituency party member Michael Evans said that the MP was always on the lookout to promote the cause of North East Somerset.
He said: "Since becoming MP he has held 50 local surgeries every year in places like Keynsham, Paulton, Batheaston, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the Chew Valley, keeping in touch with local residents and taking up their grievances in Westminster.
He is rarely absent from the Commons and, together with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, is one of the few national politicians to be recognised by their first name only."
Mr Rees-Mogg said he was pleased to have been re-adopted as the candidate for the area.
He said: "I grew up in North East Somerset and I live here with my family so I am thrilled to be given the chance to continue sticking up for the local people."
