A teenage boy was pulled unconscious from the River Avon in Bath this afternoon after falling from a bridge. The boy had been pulled out of the water by passing cyclist Kieron McCarron, who had been riding along a nearby cycle path at Newbridge with his family when he spotted the boy in the river. Mr McCarron - who had been helped by the youngster's friends - performed first aid on the boy and put him in the recovery position while his family called the emergency services. Eventually, a fire service boat on a training exercise came past and immediately leapt into action. The boy - who had by then recovered consciousness - was then taken to an ambulance by the crew in the boat. Mr McCarron's wife Jo said that half an hour after the incident, boys had been jumping in the river at the same spot.
