Academy director Danny Grewcock says Bath Rugby are not pressing the panic button despite none of the club's players figuring in Warren Gatland's British & Irish Lions squad bound for Australia.
Two-time Lions tourist Grewcock believes experienced front-row duo Paul James and Davey Wilson were extremely unlucky to miss out on selection, with Bath's failure to finish in the Aviva Premiership top six hampering the pair's chances.
With a host of new arrivals set to arrive over the summer, however, former lock Grewcock says there is still plenty to be positive about at The Rec.
"I think if you have a successful season then coaches and selectors are going to look at those teams a bit more favourably and, unfortunately, Bath did not make the end of season play-offs," said Grewcock, who toured Australia with the Lions in 2001 and New Zealand four years later.
"Perhaps it was therefore easier to overlook these players.
"We've got a couple of fantastic players who I would like to think would had been in contention for the Lions and certainly would have been discussed by the selectors.
"Paul James and Dave Wilson are two guys who are tried and tested at international level and have always done a fantastic job for their country.
"I am sure they were very close. Hopefully they will be on the reserve list and be in with a shout this summer.
"It's not a huge concern that no Bath players will be in the Lions squad and the club is now concentrating on preparations for next season."
Although Bath representation will be absent from the Lions, a host of players will tour Argentina with England.
Prop Wilson retains his place from Stuart Lancaster's Six Nations squad, while back Kyle Eastmond has received his first call-up. Dave Attwood and Rob Webber return to the Red Rose set-up, while new recruit Jonathan Joseph is also selected.
With their list of summer signings also including England age-group representatives George Ford, Matt Garvey, David Sisi and Anthony Watson, it is not inconceivable to think Bath will form the cornerstone of the national team going forward.
Grewcock, therefore, cannot wait to for the squad to regroup for summer training and is already looking forward to next season with relish.
"I think it's exciting ahead of next season," said Grewcock, a World Cup winner with England in 2003. "There are obviously quite a few new signings and a lot contributing to a youthful squad.
"As long as we get the balance right between experienced players and ones coming through, then I think we've got a very good year ahead of us."
