A prolific graffiti artist has been ordered to pay more than £2,300 in compensation after pleading guilty to a five-month crime spree across the city.
Christopher Kille, 23, of Bloomfield Park, in Bath, has a history of vandalising buildings by spray painting them and was convicted of nine counts of criminal damage back in 2009.
His latest offences were committed between the end of October last year and March of this year and saw damage to a number of businesses and private addresses.
The 45 charges he pleaded guilty to included graffiti at Moles nightclub, Green Park Tavern, Oldfield Park and Bath Spa railway stations and properties in The Circus.
Kille appeared at Bath Magistrates Court for sentencing and was given a community order, which says he must complete an alcohol treatment requirement for six months, must not carry any paint or marker pens in a public place for 12 months and must complete 150 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.
He was also ordered to pay £2,345.60 in compensation.
Bath city centre Inspector Steve Mildren welcomed the sentence and said his officers would continue to crack down on people who committed these types of crimes.
He said: "We take the problem of graffiti very seriously.
"It is criminal damage, not art, that defaces our historic buildings and is extremely expensive to clean and remove.
"We will do all we can to track down those people who are responsible for it."
