Michael Jamieson is ready to build on his sensational London 2012 silver medal when he returns to international competition in Istanbul this week.
The British Gas Bath ITC breaststroke is joined by 18 compatriots at the World Short-Course Championships, which start on Wednesday and run until Sunday.
Jamieson, 24, came within 0.12secs of the former world 200m breaststroke record in finishing as runner-up behind Daniel Gyurta at the Olympics and he is looking forward to getting back into the pool after a solid performance at the recent BUCS Short-Course Championships.
"This is the first big competition for me and the first major international meet of the new season," said Jamieson. "I feel like I'm in good shape and have rested up a bit in preparation.
"I swam better than I expected at a couple of preparation meets so I'm hoping to go out there, post a best time and get onto the podium."
Also in action for the British team in Istanbul are Jamieson's Bath colleagues Andrew Willis, Chris Walker-Hebborn and Lizzie Simmonds.
