Bath ITC duo Sophie Allen and Chris Walker-Hebborn missed out on the medals on the final day of the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.
Allen swam in the final of the 4x100m medley relay alongside Lauren Quigley, Jemma Lowe and Fran Halsall – who took 50m freestyle bronze earlier in the day – but the Brits could only finish sixth in 3mins 58.67secs.
That was an improvement on their heat time but not good enough to challenge gold medallists the United States (3:53.23), Australia (3:55.22) and Russia (3:56.47).
The men's quartet of Walker-Hebborn, Ross Murdoch), Michael Rock and Adam Brown narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final as they finished ninth in the heats, 0.32secs off the qualification spots in 3:35.23.
