A business course at the University of Bath has been ranked 11th in the world.

The survey, by The Economist magazine, ranked the university's executive MBA programmes, which deal with business administration, 11th out of 62 institutions across the globe.

The course is usually taken by business people on a part-time basis.

Topping the table in a joint qualification was Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois and Schulich School of Business at York University in Canada.

The second place went to IE Business School in Madrid.

Third place went to another joint EMBA offered by University of California Anderson Business School and the University of Singapore, with Oxford coming fourth.

Director of the Bath MBA, Dr Bruce Rayton, said: "It is always satisfying to see external recognition of the quality of our programmes, and I'm pleased to see that the inaugural Which MBA ranking of EMBA programmes has recognised the Bath MBA.

"I'm thankful for the hard work of our alumni, staff and students in making the Bath MBA a success."
