A Bath charity had its Christmas come early this year after generous donations from a city pub.

Headway Bath and District, a charity which offers help and support to victims of brain injury or trauma, was given gifts such as a 42-inch TV, a PlayStation3 and PS3 exercise bike, and board games to challenge the mind.

The Charmbury Arms, in Oldfield Park, hosts a fundraiser every year, and chose to donate to Headway this festive season after a recommendation from one of its regulars, who had volunteered for the charity.

Landlords Sue and Nick Palmer raised £3,250 for the charity through a sponsored bike ride, a golf day, a family fun day and an auction, among other activities.

The gifts were chosen specifically with the charity in mind and will not only be used for social activities but should also help with cognitive skills and dexterity.

Another donated item was a piece of equipment which assists carers in helping clients to sit, stand and pivot.

Headway expressed thanks to everyone at the Charmbury Arms.
