Following triumphant UK and international appearances on stage and screen, BalletBoyz bring their brand new show the Talent 2013 to the Theatre Royal Bath on Sunday February 3 as part of a UK tour.
This phenomenally popular company returns to Bath with a bold new show, featuring 10 exceptional young dancers, as they present an exhilarating evening, fusing spectacular dance, both energetic and graceful, with music and film.
This all new show for 2013 premières two stunning new dance pieces, Fallen and Serpent, by internationally celebrated choreographers, the multi-award winning Russell Maliphant and Royal Ballet dancer/choreographer, Liam Scarlett, one of the UK's most promising dance-makers.
Fallen, the latest work by Russell Maliphant to join the repertoire of BalletBoyz, is a hypnotic and entrancing display of grace and power featuring a specially composed score by award-winning French cinema composer Armand Amar. Serpent, Liam Scarlett's first commission for BalletBoyz, is a beautiful study of unison and virtuosity, featuring a haunting score by acclaimed UK composer Max Richter. Both new works will be lit by Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Michael Hulls.
BalletBoyz is one of the most original and innovative forces in modern dance and the brainchild of former Royal Ballet lead dancers, Michael Nunn and William Trevitt. They have been dancing together for nearly 25 years and have thrilled audiences and dance critics the world over with their mix of award-winning repertoire, distinctive performance style and high artistic standards.
For their latest BalletBoyz venture, the Talent 2013, award-winning artistic directors Nunn and Trevitt handpicked five new dancers from across the UK to join their existing company through open auditions. Selected from different dance backgrounds, all of the first-rate dancers demonstrate a passion for dance and natural unharnessed talent.
The ten dancers performing in the Talent 2013 are Taylor Benjamin, Andrea Carrucciu, Flavien Esmieu, Martyn Garside, Adam Kirkham, Jordan Olpherts, Edward Pearce, Leon Poulton, Matthew Rees and Matthew Sandiford. A life-changing opportunity for many of these young men, this exciting venture has seen Nunn and Trevitt mentoring and coaching the talented dancers, giving them an invaluable professional development opportunity at an early stage in their careers.
