The achievements and dedication of the district's sports people, volunteers and coaches will be recognised by Bath & North East Somerset Council chairman Cllr Rob Appleyard early next year.
Now in their eighth year, the Chairman's Sports Awards feature 11 categories with two of them – the Contribution to Inclusive Sport accolade and Official of the Year prize – up for grabs for the first time.
The winner of the Chairman's Special Award, which recognises achievement in the community, will be selected from all of the nominations received and will best reflect the Cllr Appleyard's theme of 'people matter'.
"These awards celebrate the marvellous achievements and dedication of our local sports people, volunteers and coaches," said Cllr Appleyard.
"B&NES Council is committed to helping everyone have the opportunity to participate in sports and enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
"We hope that anyone who has been inspired by the devotion of others towards sporting activities in their community will put their name forward and give them the recognition that they deserve."
The awards are supported by Aquaterra Leisure and O2 Creation and all nominees will be invited to a civic reception and presentation, which will include displays from local sports clubs, on Wednesday, February 27.
All finalists will receive a certificate and photograph, while each of the winners will be presented with a piece of engraved, Aqua Blue Glass and offered 12 months' free platinum membership to Aquaterra-run facilities, worth £400.
